That may sound a little cliche, but let me explain.<BR/>Harley was born four months premature. He wasn't expected to survive the delivery, but then, he tried to cry. That completely shocked the doctor and nurses and they hurried to prep him to be flown to a larger hospital where he was placed in the premature intensive care unit. There were several times when it was touch and go. My husband and I spent many weekends driving up to see him and I wept many tears. The hardest part was watching other mothers with their newborns. Harley was so tiny and fragile (only 1 pound 10 ounces) that it was impossible to even hold him.<BR/>Slowly, he began to gain weight and his body began to develop. Four and a half months later, he finally got to come home.<BR/>Harley recently celebrated his fifth birthday. Today, he is a rambunctious and intelligent little boy. Other than some typical behavior issues, you'd never know he started out too soon and too little.<BR/>Once he was out of danger, I sat down and wrote him a letter. I told him all about the effect his early birth had on everyone and how special he is. I loved those evenings, having the bug candles going and we played lots of cards! Loved Rummy and Uno, snacking, laughter and hugs. I miss it. For a while, I had a dear friend as a neighbor and we'd play scrabble every friday night til the wee early mornings til one of us won. I so miss that too. I have to start that again when I find someone who would love to play that too. With the four of us here now, and the two working or college, we don't get to see them as much but you'd see this when we have a holiday in the summer. BTW...there is an equine cable network or at least there used to be. The only thing I really remember about it is that when I watched some horse related event on cable there would be a commercial for the network. One of those "if you are interested contact your local cable station" kind of things. Larry and I used to watch a lot of jumping events. And now that I think about it I haven't seen anything on cable with horse related events in a long time. But then I've not browsed the sports networks in a long time either. Which is probably the reason.<BR/>Looking at your pictures makes me think I'm going to have to push Larry into taking me to Grant's farm. Before I retired I lived in a townhouse neighborhood in Maryland, and although I recognized a few of my neighbors, I didn't KNOW them. This is probably partly because my children were grown and I didn't have that connection to the community either.
